I decided that I needed some gauges to monitor what was going on under the bonnet. After a lot of hours spent searching the web I eventually decided that I wanted to measure oil pressure, oil temperature, fuel pressure, air intake temperature, boost pressure and exhaust gas temperature. My reasoning went something like :-
Oil pressure and temp for obvious reasons;
Boost so that I can see what effect the bigger pulley kit has made and to monitor for leaks in the intercooler pipe work.
Exhaust gas temperature will show when the engine is running too cold or too hot - not good for the aluminium pistons.
The fuel pressure gauge will show if there is a fuel pressure problem - a pressure drop will cause a lean condition.
The air intake temperature gauge will allow me to monitor the temperature of the air entering the intake plenum – colder is better as cold air is denser.
So I had six parameters that I wanted to measure. I could have got myself six separate gauges but then the problem arises of where to fit them all. I thought about the lidded cubby box in the lower part of the centre console but that would put the gauge faces too far away from my eye line whist driving. Then I spotted that the Fensport Runx had dual digital display gauges from SPA and my research showed that they were exactly what I needed. I could have six readouts using just three units.
