Moving the intercooler meant that I lost my TTE fog lights - not a bad thing as they weren't that good anyway.  There's a recently opened place in Cardiff called Osaka Autodesign - run by a couple of ex-Toyota technicians .  At least they know their way around Toyotas and I've dealt with one of them before when the car was still getting it's free servicing (for the first three years).  I explained to them what I needed and they suggested the PIAA 1440x fogs as they were small enough for my location.  I handed over the credit card and walked out a happy man.  I also picked up a sheet of black mesh so that I could mesh the holes left when the original fogs had been removed.

The mesh was done first.  I cut a piece roughly to size and jammed it in to see what it looked like and then shaped it to fit properly.  To fix it in place I moulded three "lumps" of fibre glass paste onto the back of the bumper around the perimeter of the hole.  When it had almost set I  filed it down so that the mesh would sit flush with the back of the hole and then drilled pilot holes in each lump so that I could insert a self tapping screw.  When the paste had finally set I fixed the mesh ensuring that it was lined up properly.  Really - it was that easy.

The fogs were fairly easy to fit too.  The wiring was already installed - it hadn't been removed when the fogs had been taken out - I had just removed the fuse to ensure that the live cable ends didn't short out.  All I had to do was position them where I wanted them and fix them down.  Really the only place they would fit was inside the ducts that were supposed to be used for brake cooling.  They weren't being used for that purpose on my car but I was using the passenger side duct  as a cold air feed for the air box that I had already removed.  Without the air box I thought that the new fog lamp would not cause too many problems.

I had to make sure that I had enough room on each side of the new lamps to be able to get the Allen key into the screw on each side of the lamp housing to tighten up after adjustment.  I had to cut down the short leg of the Allen key to give me enough room to insert it.  With the lamps fixed down and the exiting wiring connected up with new connectors it was time to switch them on

. Now that's what I call bright.  All I had to do then was to line then up and tighten the adjustment screws.  Another job well done.

I was on a roll now so I went back to Osaka Autodesign and bought some PIAA silicone wiper blades to replace the not very good Bosch ones that I had on there.  Just remove the old blades and replace with new ones.  Follow the instructions on the pack and the jobs a good 'un.

I wonder what I can spend my money on next?????????
